Having been caravaners ourselves for over 20 years when we bought Coopers Croft we thought the meadow at the rear of the garden centre and cattery would be an ideal CL!
The meadow is approximately 1.2 acres in size, and has four hardstanding areas and electric hook ups are also available. The site is set well back from the main road which means it’s a lovely peaceful place for a getaway from it all break. Surrounded by fields it’s a haven of peace and quiet in the East Sussex countryside. Also on the site is the garden centre with a variety of shops and Catkins tearoom, serving delicious home cooked lunches, cakes and teas – with a lovely home cooked Sunday lunch a speciality!
The CL is ideally situated to explore the beautiful countryside and coast line around Sussex. The ancient town of Battle is a short car drive away, with Eastbourne and Bexhill-on-Sea also close by, together with Lewes and Brighton not too far distant. For keen walkers there are great walks directly out from the site, and the South Downs with its fabulous views are only a short drive away with a huge selection of great walks to choose from. There are also a wide number of National Trust properties and gardens within easy driving distance, giving plenty to do whilst you stay – or alternatively if the weather is great pack a deck chair and get down to the coast for a swim!
Herstmonceux village itself is a short walk away, either along the road or through the fields and has a selection of shops, including general stores and a farm shop together with a couple of pubs and restaurants too. Herstmonceux is also home to Herstmonceux Castle and observatory, certainly worth a visit whilst you are staying with us. Hailsham town is a short drive away with the usual variety of shops, including a Tesco and Waitrose.
If you don’t fancy taking your car into the towns there is a bus stop on the corner just outside the garden centre, making it easy to leave the car behind if you wish.
Our neighbours and friends at Cherry Tree Cottage next door offer a beautiful self-contained bed and breakfast, details of which can be provided – ideal if you have extra guests wishing to visit whilst you are away in the caravan.
The charge for the CL starts from £12 per night, including electricity.
